Our education and training programs ensure that Classic Residence by Hyatt employees are the most knowledgeable and capable in the senior living industry and help to prepare them for higher levels of responsibility.

The goal of Classic Residence by Hyatt training and development efforts is to create a framework that drives individual and group performance, with the objective of building employee retention, developing a competitive advantage in the marketplace, enhancing the brand and realizing resident satisfaction.

Many programs are delivered at either our state-of-the-art meeting facilities at our headquarters in Chicago, Hyatt Center, or directly at the community level.

Leadership programs.

Classic Residence by Hyatt's leadership programs enable key-level employees to develop their potential in an environment that is paramount to learning. Here are a few of our offerings:
  • Classic Residence by Hyatt Leadership Institute—The purpose of the Leadership Institute is to provide Classic Residence by Hyatt leaders with a development experience that builds on their strengths and develops further leadership skills. Through a series of assessments, interactive exercises and senior management sessions, participants explore ways to further contribute to the Classic Residence by Hyatt business in their departments and communities.
  • Management retreats—These retreats offer our management staff an opportunity to interface on business issues and build cohesive operating teams.
  • Management classes—Offers a curriculum for managers to expand their skills in areas that are critical to business, such as managing employee performance, business acumen and recruiting/interview practices, to name a few.
  • National meetings—Enable senior leaders from the various functions to enhance their professional skills while collaborating on driving the business strategy and networking with others. Whether in operations, human resources, accounting or resident services, we continue to provide the best and most up-to-date knowledge and information for our key leaders.

Training programs.

New hire orientation process—Offers a comprehensive program to expose our new employees to the world of senior living, our business and the benefits of being a Classic Residence by Hyatt employee. Orientation for new employees is an opportunity for them to become acquainted with Classic Residence by Hyatt and their new work environment. Below is a list of objectives for new hires during their orientation process:
  • We help employees become acquainted with Classic Residence by Hyatt as an employer and help them know what to expect in their new job.
  • We make new employees feel welcome and help them understand their role as an important part of a team, our Classic Residence by Hyatt family.
  • We cover administrative details that are frequently included in employee orientations, yet we do so in a way that benefits employees and enhances their knowledge.
  • We want employees to understand the history and philosophy of Classic Residence by Hyatt as a leader in luxury senior living so that they can share our pride and excitement in serving our residents.
  • We answer questions most employees have when starting a new job—questions about what to expect, pay, benefits, working conditions and employee recognition.
  • We clearly communicate our expectations regarding service, safety and policies and procedures.
  • We acquaint employees with individuals and resources available to help them perform their jobs more effectively and feel most comfortable in their transition.
  • Overall, we express our belief in our core values of integrity, compassion and excellence and demonstrate how new employees can embody these values in everything they do as a Classic Residence by Hyatt employee.

In-service training—We continue to raise the professional standards of our employees to insure the highest quality of service to our residents. In-service training is conducted on a regular basis to maintain professional certifications as well as standards in our industry.

On-site learning—We utilize seasoned staff in existing communities to provide on-site learning to our newer staff members, whether in operations, sales or other functions.

Sales staff development.

Our attention to the sales force development is superior in senior living and sets us apart, from our attentive hiring process to our expanded sales training curriculum. We look for the brightest sales individuals who can bring their expertise to our growing business.
  • Sales orientation—A multiple week program that offers both classroom and in-service training for new salespersons to Classic Residence by Hyatt. This program focuses on educating sales professionals about the senior living industry and our specific business at Classic Residence by Hyatt that helps differentiate us in the marketplace.
  • Relationship selling skills—A course designed to give our sales professionals the resources and tools to generate sales to our prospective residents through practicing our core values of integrity, compassion and excellence.
  • On-site training—Seasoned sales professionals offer their expertise to new sales staff members to familiarize them with the Classic Residence by Hyatt product and services.

Food and Beverage.

At Classic Residence by Hyatt, we are committed to our "Quality Every Day" program. As part of our focus on providing residents with an exceptional dining experience, we offer an array of training opportunities for Food and Beverage employees. Programs include:

  • Ongoing streaming video through The Culinary Institute of America on a variety of culinary and service topics that help our employees to enhance their current skills and to acquire new skills for career advancement.
  • Resident satisfaction training to help ensure a satisfying dining experience for our residents.
  • Certified Executive Chef program for our executive chefs.
  • Culinary Institute of America training for our executive directors, executive chefs, pastry chefs and directors of dining services.
  • Certified Dietary Manager program for our executive chefs, directors of dining services and select employees.
  • "Classic Service" training for our resident care staff.
