Cherry Chocolate Cookies

Classic Residence by Hyatt in Chevy Chase
Serves 12


Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1-3/4 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract—pure
  • 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup dried cherries

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Lightly grease a large cookie sheet.
  3. Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl with the mixer at high speed, until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla; beat until well blended.
  5. Combine flour, cocoa, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl; add to butter mixture; mix until uniform.
  6. Add chopped cherries.
  7. Drop dough by the tablespoonful onto prepared cookie sheet.
  8. Bake about 10–12 minutes or until set.
