Susan Compton, R.N., Ph.D., is responsible for the comfort, well-being and satisfaction of each resident at Classic Residence by Hyatt at La Jolla Village.
As Executive Director, Susan oversees every aspect of the community, including the high quality of services, amenities, programs and care provided to residents. Susan exemplifies Classic Residence by Hyatt’s mission, philosophy and core values of integrity, compassion and excellence and ensures that each employee upholds these tenets.
Susan earned a master's degree in health law and a doctorate in health science. With her extensive health care experience, including her background in administration, Susan has demonstrated her dedication to older adults.

Jonathan Bliss ensures that each resident of the Classic Residence by Hyatt care center receives appropriate care and services and enjoys a variety of enriching programs and activities.
As Care Center Administrator, Jonathan oversees every aspect of the Classic Residence by Hyatt care center, from the quality of the resident experience and care to communications with family members. He is a member of the multidisciplinary Classic Residence by Hyatt care team, which works with each resident and his or her family and physician to develop a personalized plan of services and care.
Jonathan has worked with older adults for most of his career. He is a licensed care center administrator.

Joel Alberto, RN, is responsible for the quality of care and services provided to residents of assisted living, memory support/Alzheimer’s care and skilled nursing care at Classic Residence by Hyatt at La Jolla Village.
As Director of Nursing, Joel works with the Care Center Administrator, the resident’s personal physician and the consulting medical director to develop the plan of care or plan of services for each resident. He ensures that care and services are delivered in accordance with Classic Residence by Hyatt’s mission, core values, resident care philosophy and standards of care and practice. He serves as a member of the multidisciplinary Classic Residence by Hyatt care team.
Joel brings a wealth of clinical and management experience to Classic Residence by Hyatt at La Jolla Village. In addition to his nursing credentials, he earned his master of business administration degree.

Connie Coe creates and implements lifestyle-enriching programs that contribute to each resident’s whole-person wellness.
As Lifestyle Director, Connie oversees lifestyle programs designed for residents, such as social and community involvement, participatory and spectator events, creative and educational coursework, lecture series, travel clubs, book reviews, fitness classes and more.
Connie's education and experience combined with her commitment to older adults enhance her ability to promote a wellness-focused lifestyle.

As Director of Human Resources, Karen Ellis enhances both resident and employee satisfaction through expert oversight and management of the community’s human resources function. She recruits and develops top employees who have a passion for working with older adults.
Karen has achieved certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Mario Esparza is responsible for every aspect of the dining experience at Classic Residence by Hyatt at La Jolla Village, from table reservations and settings to the personalized service each resident receives.
As Director of Dining Services, Mario oversees the resident dining experience in the community’s dining venues, including private dining functions that residents host for their families and friends.
Mario's extensive background in the hospitality industry, including fine restaurants, and his expertise in international cuisine and special events is ideally suited to our discerning resident clientele.

Robin Margulies-Adler promotes a healthy, enriching environment at Classic Residence by Hyatt at La Jolla Village.
As Director of Resident Services, Robin helps to ensure that each resident is receiving the appropriate level of services and care. She is pleased to address the questions of residents and their family members about care options and other matters.
Robin's previous experience in health care enhances her ability to manage resident services and the community’s continuum of care. She is a licensed clinical social worker and earned her master of social work degree from the State University of New York.

Kelly Parkins is responsible for sales at Classic Residence by Hyatt at La Jolla Village, promoting the benefits of luxury senior living to older adults and their family and friends.
As Sales Director, Kelly manages the sales team and represents Classic Residence by Hyatt to the larger community. She also serves as a resource to community organizations on the topics of senior living and continuing care.
With over 14 years of experience in the retirement and senior living industry, Kelly has demonstrated her dedication to older adults.

Eric Popejoy, CPA, is responsible for the accuracy of operational accounting for Classic Residence by Hyatt at La Jolla Village.
As Director of Accounting, Eric oversees all accounting functions and is responsive to resident requests and questions.
With his vast experience in accounting and finance, including health care, Eric exemplifies our core values of integrity, compassion and excellence.

As Executive Chef, Jim Smith oversees every aspect of the culinary program for Classic Residence by Hyatt at La Jolla Village, including menu creation, food preparation and the management of therapeutic diets. Jim’s menus feature healthy and taste-tempting selections based on resident preferences.
Jim’s culinary expertise was developed and enhanced with Hyatt Hotels and in 5-star dining venues. He has received customized training provided by The Culinary Institute of America on nutrition, healthy cooking and baking techniques, flavor dynamics and food and wine pairing. Jim has completed the Certified Executive Chef certification with the American Culinary Federation. He is also a certified dietary manager and certified food protection professional.
